Almond Calls For Meeting On School Suit
Governor J Lindsay Almond Jr arranged a top level conference Friday at 10 30 a m with state officials on the federal move to force Prince Edward County public schools. Atty Gen A S Harrison Jr and Wilkerson Gray will be present as observers. The federal government moved to intervene as co plaintiff in the desegregation case seeking to prohibit state support of any Virginia public schools until Prince Edward County schools reopen on a desegregated basis. Kennedy called the move a departure from custom.

Runner up was Mary Ann Linton Musselman High School Inwood. Jo Ann Boarman Hedgesville High placed third. Middletown State Bank to close at noon Friday for the Apple Blossom Festival.
