Mr Yeakley hurries for aid as a death shocks Hampere’s community. Police investigate the scene and await coroner results. Local residents react with concern and seek details from authorities.
Edwin H Erb known as a hydraulic specialist and former Berryville Water Works superintendent died suddenly at 3 pm at the Yeakley farm four miles west of Winchester. He 63, had repaired a pump when a feeling of heart oppression struck him. He expired en route to the house, with medical aid summoned. He lived on the Berryville pike with Mrs Erb and had long been a leading windmill builder and water system expert. The obituary notes his Clarke County origins and service to local municipalities.

In Harrisburg on April 27 Representative Joel of Northampton denounced buttermilk as an intoxicant and urged state police to search milk wagons for the lethal fluid. Stofflett said the resolution grew from debate claiming buttermilk contains more than one half of one percent alcohol.
Ernest Rickard of Middletown county reports his sons Vernon 13 and Carson 10 disappeared last Monday while walking to school. Carson was seen in Winchester and Edinburg with the younger boy later taken to police, then vanished after a restaurant visit. Both boys left with suitcases, last seen in the vicinity of Middletown and Winchester. their whereabouts are unknown.

Fifty members and guests attended the Winchester Rotary Club meeting for the annual election of officers and directors. H B McCormac was elected president for 1922 24 with Bill Glass secretary and Will Cooper treasurer. The club honored retiring President Doug Fuller and planned invitations to speakers from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and ex Governor Cornwell of West Virginia.

A forest fire in the Catoctin mountains near Braddock Heights was brought under control after burning from early in the week. About 8 000 to 9 000 acres of woodland were destroyed before firefighters contained the blaze by nightfall.

New York April 27 Miss Dolores Dixon withdrew her $60,000 damages suit against Babe Ruth alleging seduction and assault.
