Governor Davis has been indisposed for a week at the Richmond executive mansion and has not visited his office for several days. He has continued to handle urgent matters from the mansion and remains under the weather.
Mr E V Weems asks The Star to correct a Wednesday report claiming he swore a warrant against Miss Virginia Barr for cedar law violation. He says no warrant was sworn by him. Judge E. D. Newman of Woodstock Virginia will speak at Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South Sunday at 11 am on the Centenary. He heads the Centenary committee of the Baltimore Conference and his Staunton address was a conference highlight. The public is invited to attend.

Lieut. Sandy Baker attached to the pioneer Infantry the United States Army landed yesterday at the port of New York and has gone to Camp Merritt New Jersey. He will likely be mustered out there. Mrs. Baker and the children plan to join him soon. Baker trained at Fort Myer Virginia in 1917 and earned a commission as second lieutenant. He was promoted to first lieutenant while serving in France.

Sheriff Pannett returns Frank Berry from Luray Virginia to Madison County charged with an offense against Edna Nicol. Berry was captured with a companion near Winchester and has been held awaiting a hearing in Madison County jail amid questions over where the offense occurred. Nicol, age 17, remains at Ira Barrett’s home near White Hall while Berry’s case is prepared.
