Pittsburgh AP The federal mediator William E. Simkin continues talks with steel unions and companies to avert a May 1 strike. He negotiates wage demands of 17.9 cents versus 5 to 7 cents offered, while considering expanding a walkout against 11 major steel producers.
The article notes Winchester will not observe Daylight Saving Time until June 6 while nearby Virginia areas such as Arlington Fairfax counties and cities Alexandria Falls Church and Fairfax adopt earlier times.
