He cites 1942 1943 goals of 185000 planes 120000 tanks 55000 anti aircraft guns and 18000000 tons of shipping. He notes possible expansions could come later and discusses civilian steel use and shipbuilding morale.

BOYCE VA April 24 Clarke County Board fights for priority rating as the new Boyce high school faces scarce supplies delays. The $72,500 low bid by contractor Hugh N Ritter covers construction with adjustments for items unavailable due to priority limits. The campus plans include 60 acres with a large auditorium, vocational building, athletic fields, and parking.
An ad cites Lamp Motor Co at 410 Smithfield Ave offering vehicle inspections. It also notes Friday bingo nights run by South End Hose Co and announces a sale of 30 shares in Commercial and Savings Bank with a deadline of April 30 at noon.
Soviet Army news service Red Star claimed the Golden Range, a German stronghold in Crimea, fell after four days of fighting. Germans suffered about 300 killed, many guns and weapons captured. reports noted feints by Finns and continued heavy action on multiple fronts amid melting snows and rising aerial activity.

Capon Bridge WV born April 27 1842 in Hooks Mill near Capon Bridge George Slonaker marks his 100th birth anniversary with family at home. Civil War service joined Confederate Army married Almira Oglesby November 9 1871. he recalls mountain journey to Laurel Chapel. He has eight children and multiple generations.
The Boyce High School FFA stock judging team won first place in the Polled Shorthorn judging contest at Winchester Livestock Market. Seventy participants from FFA chapters and 4-H Clubs competed, with teams from Ivyville Handley Middletown Stephens City and Gainesboro among high scorers. The Boyce trio consisted of Billy Yowell Billy Lewin and Pete Glasscock.
Alonzo Edgar Baker of Hayfield ran a tiny tanning venture after hosting a soldier. The soldier supposedly left him hides and skins as payment or a gesture of thanks. In Bartonville, Mrs. Peter C. Petrie learned from a letter her son, Seaman First Class Peter C. Petrie Jr., survived Pearl Harbor and was serving in a war zone.
London reports a strong RAF bomber force heavily attacked the Baltic port Rostock last night leaving widespread fires and apparent damage. The air ministry says four British aircraft are missing and the attack was heavy and quite successful amid German war supply movements.
Second Lieut. P F Rosenberger, supervising officer of bridge ae, informs Brigadier General E E Goodwyn that civilian guards have relieved VPF personnel as of April 9. The initial active service assignment for the Virginia Protective Force ends with high praise from Brigadier General James A Anderson.
A U S bomber raid on Japan last Saturday led to a forced landing in the Maritime Province of the Soviet Union. Tass reported the crew of five were interned under international law, with Vladivostok in charge via Angus Ward the U S consul general.
