One Fourth Share of Continental Trading Profits Tied to Trust Fund Plan
Robert W. Stewart, chairman of Standard Oil of Indiana, testified before the Senate Teapot Dome committee that he received a one fourth share of profits from the Continental Trading Company of Canada despite protests. He said H S Osler handed Liberty bonds totaling 759000 to fund a trust, to be split between Sinclair Crude Oil and Standard Oil Indiana. He turned the bonds over to Roy Barnett to act as trustee, bonds stored in a Standard Oil vault until directors later redirected them to the Sinclair Purchas ing Company. The arrangement yielded a quick profit through oil transfers between companies.
