Britons stormed the coast near Boulogne in a two hour raid testing German defenses and gathering military information. Casualties were described as very light and the operation followed last month’s St Nazaire strike.

Survivors of a United States merchant vessel torpedoed in the Caribbean April 12 describe a 12 hour chase with a submarine. The ship, carrying 63 aboard, was sunk after three torpedoes. Dr. Benjamin A. Price, 64, the ship's doctor and former Idaho health official, is listed as missing.
An OPA spokesman said a forthcoming rationing plan for the eastern seaboard will limit motorists to about five gallons per week. Details were withheld but the plan aims to drastically cut gasoline deliveries, with ration cards used for purchases. The curtailment area spans from Maine to Florida, affecting service stations and the District of Columbia.
