Viet Cong Mines Kill 24 Civilians in South Vietnam

Viet Cong mines hit two South Vietnamese busloads killing 24 and wounding five in the central coastal plain and the Mekong Delta. Lt. Col. Le Trung Hien reports no contact with the enemy after eight days of reconnaissance. U.S. troops from the 101st Airborne are reported in the A Shau valley seeking caches of weapons.

Front Royal Youths Die in Auto Crash

A one car crash on Virginia 55 near Front Royal Haymarket Virginia claimed the lives of two youths. State trooper W J Wallace Jr identified the victims as Gregg Stuart Hite 18 and Michael Wayne Hockman 17. It was not determined which youth was driving.

Frederick County sells 10000th license decal and announces sale

Town Crier reports Frederick County reached the 10 000 mark in license decals sales with Tag 10 000 issued to Roscoe Bowers banker and school board member. Decals go on sale through May 1. Johnson to run as independent for Frederick County sheriff

John Alvin Johnson Jr of Clear Brook filed to run as an independent for sheriff, pitting him against incumbent Democrat Lacy Anderson who announced reelection. Other local offices teased include Eston Rudolph Jr seeking a second term as Commissioner of Revenue, while Harry McCann will not seek reelection as county treasurer.
