London April 21 British troops seize Connelieu east of Arras and take German prisoners as Portugal's cabinet resigns and a new one to be formed.

Samuel Simpson Harros infant son of Evangelist and Mrs Morton Har loe died at home on Hert Street after a four month illness. He was eight months old and survived by parents and four sisters. Funeral held at 3 pm at the Harlee home with Rev H G Spencer of Market Street M E Church officiating and burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Several boys acted as pallbearers.
Rev G Oliver Wing named new pastor of St Pauls AME Church North Main will lead two services tomorrow at 11 am and 8 pm Capeville Virginia pastor arrives to succeed Rev John Augustus reassigned to Farmville Virginia by annual conference large crowds expected to greet the new minister.
Rev. Dr. William Y. Smith, president of the local Boy Scouts, requests names of residents with small plots of ground suitable for garden use. The group hopes to plant about six plots for vegetables this spring and asks willing neighbors to contact Dr. Smith at once to lend ground for the good turn.
Washington April 21 The draft bill reported to the Senate outlines steps for enrollment and exemptions. A proclamation will set a registration day with the precinct as unit. sheriffs will record males aged nineteen to twenty five. those who refuse face arrest. essential industries may be exempted.
Dr. Frank Crane arrives from New York to address Winchester citizens at the Community Dinner next Tuesday night. He wires arrival at noon to study local problems and conditions. His subject is Ghosts and he is billed as a strong speaker. He is pastor of Hyde Park Church in Chicago.

Mr FE J Evans of Winchester, a well known tobacconist, returned home from Memorial Hospital after a surgical operation. He is advanced in years but improving steadily and has largely regained his normal health and strength. Friends who saw him today congratulated him on his recovery.
Frank Fansler son of Mr and Mrs L L Fansler of this city went to Washington to offer services to the Navy Department and has been accepted He is now in Richmond making final arrangements to enter the service He left here for Staunton and was sent to Richmond He may be stationed on a training ship at Norfolk His younger brother Arthur Fansler also went to Washington and was found two pounds light but the deficiency was waved He is considered in good health and likely to be accepted soon
Winchester Lodge of Elks will hold an important meeting on Sunday afternoon at 3 o clock. It is urged that every member be present. Mr John Winkfield left yesterday for Baltimore to take a position in a large bakery at Sparrows Point Maryland.

Breakfast was served at 10 then they toured the troop cabin and garden. They will return to Martinsburg completing a forty four mile day hike.

The 75 year old Mrs Lucy F Ryan widow of Confederate veteran Major Joseph Ryan died at her daughter’s Staunton home and was laid to rest at Old Chapel near Millwood. Service by Rev D I Ritchie of Waynesboro followed burial in Old Chapel graveyard. She leaves seven daughters and two sons with seven grandchildren, part of Clarke county’s old prominent family.
The funeral for the late Mrs. Sarah Frye, longtime plant nurseryman, was held at her South Main Street home. Rev. M. Richardson officiated in a plain service attended by many friends. Interment followed in Mount Hebron Cemetery with pallbearers named Krederick Quantz, Jacob Bowman, A. C. Cunningham, John W. Rosenberger, Benjamin Massie, and Joseph M. Snapp.
