Twenty seventh annual Women's Missionary Convention opens
The twenty seventh annual session of the Women's Missionary Convention in the United Brethren Church opened with ring music led by Mrs J R Rhodes of Dayton Virginia. The program includes readings prayers and speeches by visiting officers and Miss Janet Gilbert executive at Otterbein Guild with a naval banquet and ram rendering. The Otterbein Guild will lead the 8 o'clock program tonight with services and activities through Friday.

Tragic Burned Girl Anna Baker Dies in Washington
Miss Anna Mary Baker sixteen died in a Washington hospital after severe burns from a basement fire at her Tacoma Park home. The accident occurred when she poured coal oil on burning kindling and a gas explosion spread flames over her body. She had lived with her father Charles A. Baker and was buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Surviving family include her father, sister Ethel Settle, and half siblings Paul Baker, Charles A. Baker Jr., and Marie Baker. The father, a Frederick County native, has worked in Tacoma Park building interests. The funeral is at Montuary Chapel tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Man and Goose Arrested in Middletown
W. W. Brown of Alexandria Virginia was fined 50 dollars in Middletown Mayor's Court for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He arrived with a male goose as travel companion, damaged a cart owned by Mamie Kline, and then slept off the trip, leaving the goose in custody awaiting its owner.
