The 82nd Boston Marathon draws over 4 000 official entrants with favorites including Frank Shorter Bill Rodgers and Jerome Drayton. About 4 700 qualified, 500 reporters seek credentials as runners face a tough 26 mile 385 yard course. Trophies and international recognition await the top amateurs.
