Capsule recovery effort tests space capsule recovery
Giant Air Force operation off Vandenberg will try to recover a 27 by 33 inch capsule ejected from the Discoverer XI satellite in polar orbit. Eight C119 planes with nets and surface ships will attempt a sea catch after the capsule descends, as scientists seek a historic animal and later human return from orbit.
