Middletown officials announce a 200 reward for information leading to arrests in nine vandalism cases. April 1 and 4 incidents damaged windshields and tires, totaling about 1000. Town council discussed town hall improvements and two plan changes including a larger upstairs door and a 1000 gallon gas tank for police, rescue, and fire vehicles.
Frederick County dog wardens report a series of pet killings over eight months. A .22 caliber gun is suspected with several dogs shot along rural roads, many as pets rather than livestock killers. A recent court case and multiple agencies are investigating.
In Warren County Circuit Court special prosecutor Dabney Watts presented a plea bargain for Jack H. Albert. Albert pleaded guilty to grand larceny by embezzlement covering December 1 1976 to May 31 1977. A three year sentence with 60 days suspended and possible work release was accepted. restitution to clients was ordered along with ongoing cooperation.
Del. Richard M. Bagley chair of the House Appropriations Committee spoke on the 1978-80 state budget, noting cooperation with Gov. Dalton's administration and detailing sunset and position control bills. He stressed conservative funding, inflation as a main obstacle, and the split between general fund flexibility and restricted sources.
