Spurious 25c Coins Enter Circulation in Local Shops
A number of counterfeit twenty five cent coins have circulated here on Thursday or Friday. They were passed at a theatre, stores, and banks by well meaning holders unaware of their falseness. The coins look worn, often lack the date, or show 1898 or 1906, and are light in weight. Banks forward identified pieces to Washington for destruction, leaving owners out of pocket for the value claimed.
