John W. Hottel, 35, commissioner of revenue for Johnson district Shenandoah county, shot himself at the old farm near Woodstock on the Shenandoah river. A note to his wife explained his intent and he left directions for managing his business. Survived by wife Annie Coffman, a son, three brothers, and two sisters.

Norfolk hears Dayton city manager plan praised
J M Switzer of Dayton Ohio told Norfolk diners that the city manager form has reduced taxes from 1.44 to 1.34 and boosted permanent improvements and water supply. He cited the incinerator as a major revenue producer with a net $17 000 from grease and fertilizer sales.
