George Hardy Dies Suddenly After Stroke
The last surviving member of Winchester Light Infantry Company George W Hardy of 130 S Cameron street died at 11 30 this morning from a paralytic stroke on the porch of his niece Miss Elinor Carver where he lived. Born March 7 1857 he was a cigar maker and later worked for Adams Express and as custodian at Handley Library. He married Minnie Thatcher who preceded him in death. He belonged to First Baptist church and Friendship Fire Co and left no immediate survivors besides his niece a nephew and three first cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 pm from Miss Carver’s home with interment in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
