A Winchester tremor struck at 9 10 during a raging blizzard causing lights to fail, alarms, and fear. Residents compared the rumble to a heavy motor truck and explosions, with tremors lasting about twenty seconds and many rushing outside in darkness. The event disrupted the town as the Washington Boy Scout Band arrives for a visit and planned events including a parade and concerts.
A call to action for the community to attend the 8 30 pm meeting at Handley Library to discuss the Liberty loan. Volunteers are urged to subscribe and contribute, join Friday parade, hear the Empire speaker, and support countywide personal canvassing to win the war effort.
