Trains Plunge From Tracks In Storm Tragedy In Chicago
Two cars of a CTA elevated train plunged 30 feet to the ground during a fierce rainstorm on Chicago's South Side injuring about 30 people. One car landed in a vacant lot near a brick building, another dangled from the tracks as rescue teams freed passengers. Fire crews evacuated 30 to 40 people trapped atop the platform and assisted others from a halted second train. The crash halted the north south line for about 90 minutes as investigators and CTA workers responded.
