First Electrical Storm Sparks Two Warrenton Fires
In Warrenton Virginia the first electrical storm of the year sparked two fires. A lightning strike hit a gas tank at Jack Wallace's filling station on Remington Road, drawing the fire department. Moments later lightning struck a wire causing an explosion in the Warrenton Supply Company showroom, injuring employee Fred Hummer who burned his face and hands. The showroom interior was ruined though the rest of the building was saved.
