A mixed party from Chambersburg and Martinsburg caused a city disturbance in Martinsburg. Police pursued and detained six after a public quarrel in front of a church, with one Martinsburg woman fined and Rockwell jailed for 34 days for his role.
C Graham Archer and S Burns Wilson received eight year sentences in the Maryland penitentiary for conspiring to defraud customers of Archer, Harvey and Company. The firm failed in 1921 with liabilities around 350000 and assets near 70000. They were free on bail pending an appeal to the Maryland Court of Appeals.
A quiet but beautiful wedding took place at 8 30 p m at Mrs Katie Mace's home 302 South Braddock Street. Miss Georgia Shoop daughter of Mrs Blanche V Shoop became the bride of Morris Cather attended by her sister Pauline Shoop. Marion April 5 The White House confirms President Harding will leave public life to become a farmer and writer. William F. Hottel 82, a longtime Winchester resident and ex Confederate veteran, died yesterday afternoon at 4 30 at his home 106 N avenue from injuries and pneumonia following a Monday fall. He served as foreman for Baker's Sons flour mill for decades and was active in the Lost Cause and local Confederate Veterans Camp. Funeral arrangements are set for tomorrow at his home with Rev. A A Kelly and Rev. Yore officiating. burial at Mount Hebron. He leaves a widow and children.
