GREENWOOD Miss AP a judge hears a plea from the Justice Department today for an order banning interference with Negro voting. The hearing centers on federal efforts to curb obstruction and protect voter rights in the district.
In Birmingham Alabama clashes erupted as 21 marchers were arrested during lunch sit-ins aimed at desegregation. Rev Fred L Shuttlesworth and King spoke of nonviolent action and nightly mass meetings to push for integration and civil rights nationwide.
John Marr, 39, of Fairfax County, is reported in good condition at Winchester Memorial Hospital recovering from a Sunday bullet wound incurred while visiting a friend near Gainesboro. Grady Vance Hunter, 59, is charged with felonious shooting and awaits a preliminary hearing Monday. he is free on a 2500 bond in Greenwood where protests and arrests have continued amid civil rights demonstrations.
Loyalist army tanks and about 3000 troops swept into the Argentine coastal resort of Mar del Plata and captured the rebel naval base without firing a shot. Rebels retain Puerto Belgrano as their last major stronghold amid deterring fortifications and civilian evacuations.
The region endures strong winds with gusts affecting area homes and streets. Mrs. Charlotte Clark from Hillcrest Nursing Home had a flat tire yesterday and received roadside help. Miss Baddour reported a missing item later found by responders.

Humes allegedly stole the wallet and drove Hubbard’s car after the slaying. The car was found on the Sale River near Louisiana Missouri. Wallet reportedly discarded in a river near Athens Ohio. DeHaven will return by automobile with J E Hall, Missouri and Virginia authorities traveling separately.
President Kennedy escalates clash with President Eisenhower over defense and space funding. Kennedy cites deficits and unemployment under the present administration while defending a bold push to lead in space, noting Eisenhower’s past opposition to a full scale space program.
President Kennedy appoints a three member emergency board to study the rail labor dispute and avert a nationwide strike for 60 days. The panel led by Samuel S. Rosenman will hear hearings in Washington with two other experts, aiming to draft settlement proposals within 60 days.
