Benner seeks independent bid for Hays County Judge

Pat Benner of Wimberley announces a petition drive to place his name on the November ballot as an independent candidate for Hays County Judge. He aims to collect 500 signatures from registered voters who did not vote in the March 8 or April 12 runoff elections, seeking 80 to 100 supporters to gather eight signatures each.

EPA warns of lead contamination from submersible pumps

The EPA urged homeowners with submersible brass pumps to test drinking water for lead above 15 ppb and to use bottled water until results are known. The warning notes brass pumps can leach lead at higher rates, especially where children live, and follows new data supplied to the agency.

Historical quilts open windows at pie social and country fair

The Wimberley Pie Social and Country Fair showcases quilts from local donors, including Patsy Farris Chancellor with Aunt Agnes Farris’s quilt. The exhibit draws from Depression era scraps and cotton batting spun at the local Wimberley mill, highlighting village history. Patsy is a descendant of a prominent early mill figure.
