The Wimberley Texans routed the Dripping Springs Tigers last Friday at Texan Stadium. Senior Chance Crowder led the offense with 301 total yards, while junior Joel Bergen starred with 190 rushing yards and two third quarter TDs. Dustin Rogers opened scoring with a 33 yard run as the Texans built a early lead. The defense limited Dripping Springs to 96 rushing and 132 passing yards.

Taxpayers mull over WISD rate with board
About a dozen Wimberley residents attended a public hearing on the Wimberley Independent School District tax proposal. The district showed worksheets for rates of 1.70 and 1.71 with a district budget of 7.3 million and a five cent maintenance reduction offset by $100,000 rises in maintenance and transportation and new hires. An average home valued around 91,000 would pay about 1,470 at 1.71, up from 1,320 previously.

Public Utility Commission approves PEC rate increase
The Texas Public Utility Commission approved Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s first rate hike in 11 years on September 7 in Austin. Rates rise in October with changes reflected in December bills, adding about $9 million in annual revenue while preserving the declining block rate for high usage.
