Scudder Fall Festival Keeps Halloween Family Tradition Alive
In Wimberley the Scudder Fall Festival returns for a Halloween night tradition on the last Saturday of October. The simple Scudder Primary plot becomes a pint sized Shangri La with sausage scents and children's costumes. Families share memories as the event fills the night with safe fun and laughter. Birthday of a Landmark Dobie House Wins National Register Status
Wimberley celebrates the John R. Dobie House on Kyle Road as one of the county’s first privately owned buildings to receive National Register designation. The 1892 San Marcos origin, later owned by the Dobie family, was restored by the Smullens in 1990. A 4 p.m. dedication Saturday includes a walking tour, a Fischer Hall dance, and a fund-raiser for WIC projects.

Public Utility Commission amendments to Senate Bill 632 pave the way for Expanded Local Service. Jim Boyle of Texas Communities for Expanded Local Calling Areas lauded the progress as rural Texans pressed concerns at hearings. GTE quotes place costs at 21 million in capital, with a 12 million revenue boost and 9 million loss, while surcharges may offset the expense.
