County weighs endangered status plan for Barton Springs Salamander

Hays County Judge Eddy Etheredge urges creating a local plan to meet Fish and Wildlife Service standards for Endangered Species designation. The plan, modeled after Kern County California, would cost about 8000 dollars and aim to present to Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt in February 1995. Public input at the ECSD meeting included Take Back Texas members opposing California firm involvement and pushing for local experts to lead the effort.
