Texas Attorney General Dan Morales proposes moving processing of child support cases from courts to his office to cut court workload and save state funds. He calls for new legislation in 1997 to authorize tests, track missing parents, and enforce orders without court approval.
Special to the View reports the Wimberley based Senior League Texans aged 11-12 won the "Super Bowl" against the Luling Eagles in San Marcos on October 28 1995. The undefeated Texans built a 14-6 lead with a 45 yard Brent Slaughter to Michael Meeks pass and a Harris TD run, then held on despite late Luling scoring. Three players Michael Meeks Kurt Pendleton Brent Slaughter starred with others contributing on offense and defense as the Texans claimed their second title in four years.
The board reviews a 13 year operation of the Wimberley Rural Fire Prevention District and the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department. Since 1983 the district expanded with two stations, new pumpers, tankers and a central fire station funded by a 3 cent tax, water cooperative support, and state approvals. The district reports savings on insurance premiums, ongoing training, and a statewide recognized fire training program. City of Woodcreek remains outside district control, paying higher key rates.
