Community dinner and holiday events in Wimberley

Thanksgiving Dinner at Bowen Cafeteria from 11 am to 2 pm free for all, organized by Chip Ross with donations accepted via mail box or Ozona Bank. Christmas on the Square on November 26 from 6 to 8 pm includes tree lighting, Santa at 7, shops open late, sponsored by Wimberley Square Council. Also HC Recreation Association to hold annual membership election December 1 at Bowen Middle School and Scheib Opportunity Center asks Hays County citizens to contribute.

Local attorney Ed Phillips runs for JP Precinct 3 Place 1

Edward R. Ed Phillips, a Woodcreek resident, announced his candidacy for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 1 in the March 1994 Democratic Primary. A Texas A I graduate with natural gas engineering and chemistry degrees, he earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1973 after study at South Texas College of Law. He worked in natural gas engineering and law before opening a private practice in 1983. Phillips argues a legal background will benefit the office amid jurisdiction changes, and he and his wife Johnnie reside in Woodcreek.

Wimberley voters face a January 22 election on a 6.5 million bond package for a new campus, site purchase, technology gear, and campus improvements. If debt is restructured, the tax rate could rise about 5.5 cents annually, equating to 55 dollars per year per 100,000 home.
