Former resident presents WWII statue to Bush for Soviet American linkup
A Wimberley area veteran donated a 150 pound bronze statue honoring the Elbe hand shake between U S Lt Albert Kotzebue and Soviet Sgt Alexander Olshansky to former President George Bush. The sculpture, once displayed in Wimberley, will reside at Texas A&M and then the Bush Presidential Library. The presentation followed years of effort by Sam Lewis and sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev, with Bush gifting a WWII flight jacket to the Soviet officer.

Safety during river recreation in Wimberley
A community note from Josie in Wimberley View urges caution at recreation sites along the Blanco River. She recalls a recent trip with her mother and friends, observes fast driving and near misses near a low water crossing, and requests caution signs and a crosswalk to protect children and tourists.
