Etheredge pushes fast track for county unit road system
Hays County Judge Eddy Etheredge urged speeding planning for a countywide Unit Road System. The board tabled specifics on a local version and authorized proposals for engineering services as it weighs merging four precincts into a single administration. Proponents tout computerization of road specs and better crew use, while Etheredge notes long term savings from fleet maintenance and purchasing power. The plan could lead to a centralized public works department and flood control oversight, with planning by Oct. 1 pending a county bond issue funding projects.
