LCRA May Bring Water To Sunset Canyon Area
LCRA officials discussed extending water service along US 290 within Sunset Canyon and Ranch Road 12 area. The plan envisions about 7,500 potential connections by 2000 with a $100 monthly bill if 3,500 customers sign up. Residents debated costs, hookup fees, and whether 100 percent participation is needed before laying lines. Water access hinges on customer commitment and final partnership structure.

Dispute Over Farm Road Standards Near Driftwood
Tuesday quarrel between Marshall Kuykendall developer of Hays City Estates and county road administrator Ron Bischoff over an easement road. Neighbors claim the road fails county standards for base thickness and width with no bond or visible wide spots. Kuykendall defends the road saying it is sound, with some narrow spots after reworking weak areas. Neighbor Tim Harkins notes long use since 1987 and warns future homes will strain a 12 foot wide honeycomb rock road. See Hays City page 5.
