Hays County commissioners approved a study to evaluate recycling worn road surface material instead of full reconstruction. Rick Miller of Doucet and Associates cited Travis County’s use, mixing recycled asphalt with lime plus base and oil emulsion, potentially allowing same day reopening and reduced traffic control. A BOMAG machine was used on a trial basis. The study, costing about 1000, could lead to purchasing the BOMAG if feasible, with bond revenues deemed appropriate for funding.
