Goodman assists in drug education mission in Hawaii
Marine 1st Lt. Brett W. Goodman of Wimberley Texas joined a Community Drug Awareness Program in Kailua Kona Hawaii with Marines and sailors from Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron and Station Operations and Maintenance Squadron to promote staying in school and away from drugs. The event featured weapons displays, first aid drills, NBC demonstrations, gas masks, a helicopter tour, and hot meals for students. Goodman is stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay and is a 1980 Hays High School and 1988 University of Texas graduate.

Burger Barn resumes operations after a truck rammed the rear wall during lunchtime on Friday July 10. Owner Carol Moore said a truck out of control caused extensive damage but no injuries. The eatery reopened after seven business days with a note that caused confusion among customers. Nearby reports note the street facade appeared undamaged. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on a busy Friday.
