County pushes master plan for parks and funding match
Knox told commissioners state grants require a one to one match and counties may use newly dedicated property to meet it for the first time. The Master Park Plan must be jurisdiction wide, cover at least five years, include goals, development process and facility standards, with six months to develop and an ad hoc committee of eight groups plus public hearings. Precinct 2 notes two grassroot efforts with Travis and Hays counties on Onion Creek and an east side Optimist Club to use parks to curb juvenile crime. Precinct 3 agrees. No action was taken, but more information is requested.
