District privatizes food bus service
Following unanimous school board decisions, Durham Transportation will employ district bus drivers while food service workers stay district employees but are managed by Aramart. Emitt Herod noted Aramart's favorable bid, their large scale purchasing, and plans to reduce subsidies as participation improves. Aramart promises a food court atmosphere and better reporting. Marriott cited higher admin costs. The district bid process yielded one transportation bidder, with Durham already partnered with several area districts and a new maintenance facility.

County weighs fuel options amid convenience versus economy
Texaco representatives urged Hays County Commissioners Court to switch to a fleet credit card system for retail fuel purchases citing a 1 percent discount. Acting Road Administrator Kelly Kilber said the county uses about 4000 gallons monthly and stores fuel across four precinct yards with safety and logistical concerns in handling reserves. Billing would itemize per vehicle but charged at retail prices from independent outlets.
