DA clears WISD officials in Open Meetings probe
After a six week inquiry Hays County District Attorney Marcos Hernandez found no grounds for criminal action against Wimberley Independent School District Superintendent Vernon Newsom and the district’s board. The June 16 complaint by Rusty Linney and Wimberley 2000 alleged Open Meetings Act violations and the purchase of a bowling alley property on April 9. Newsom called the decision a better use of time and said discussions should occur with involved parties.
