Quilt ties past and present in Wimberley Pie Social display
In 1881 the Gay family left Shiloh Texas to Lampasas to escape a blood feud and seek a cooler climate. The piece highlights Mattie Gay Harris who pieced a friendship quilt as a teen from scraps, with embroidered flowers, horses and sports motifs. The quilt’s tale blends memory, farming life, and local history with Wimberley’s landscape and family craft.
