The August climate varied from 57 to 91 degrees with little rain as visitors swarmed in for the 1968 Summer Festival. Remembering a Forest City Schoolhouse Fire of 1916
Fifty years ago an old two story building in 1916 17 housed a school room and church. A stovepipe failure caused a attic blaze during a harsh winter forcing workers to battle flames from inside and evacuate students. Neighbors aided replacement and a new building opened in 1918.

Wimberley Fire Dept lauded for swift river rescue
A family thanks the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department for organizing a river search after two 14 and 15 year olds went down the Blanco from Wagon Wheel. The boys were found near San Marcos safe after dark, aided by local residents and the Hays County Sheriff.
