State Board Sets Water System Standards for Recognition
The State Board of Insurance outlines basic requirements for water systems to gain recognition. Key rules demand mains of at least 8 inches to commercial areas and 6 inches to residential zones, a ground storage tank for one day’s supply, a 50 000 gallon elevated tower at least 100 feet high, hydrants every 300 to 600 feet, and pump stations built of brick stone or concrete with reinforced roofs. The Wimberley system is praised yet falls short on several criteria.
