Wimberley Embraces Change While Preserving Community Roots
The town moves forward with a new grocery store on the Square built by the Wimberley Restoration Association and leased to Garland Warren for Sac-N-Pac Superette. Plans for a tri-district high school consolidation keep the School Board optimism high while promising separate grade schools. The fire department reports 21 calls since January amid a dry season. Cemetery dues for 1967 are $3 with appeals for donations to sustain maintenance.

Chamber Reports Deliberations On Post Office Talks And New Officers
The February 2 chamber meeting at the school discussed a possible earlier mail, later dispatch, a new post office building and a title clearance survey. Telephone Co representatives spoke on a new office and equipment with no definite completion date. Jo Wahrmund was reelected president, with plans to add outside vice presidents and to elect any member to the board. Market increases to 25 dollars for business members were approved. The March meeting features Texas history remarks by James Hobbs at SWTC, plus Texas songs by Harold and Bill Bowen. An Easter Sunrise Service will be held March 26 at 6 45 am in Sunrise Roadside Park with participation from three churches. if rain, services move to Chapel-in-the-Hills.

Plans for three-county high school approved in Kyle
Wimberley Buda and Kyle boards vote unanimously to form a new high school serving all three areas with initial enrollment over 325 and total district enrollment above 1200. Each community will have representation on the board and an elementary school in each district. A PTA meeting in Wimberley notes 96 percent support for the plan.
