Flood control holds back major Guadalupe River flood
Canyon Reservoir prevented serious flooding in the New Braunfels Seguin Gonzales stretch as GBRA discussed at its July 19 1973 meeting in Seguin Texas. Wahrenkamp reported flood waters peaked at 917.32 feet and Corps releases aimed to restore level toward 909 feet while GBRA would resume control when reached. Releases of 5000 cfs were in progress with 2295 cfs entering Canyon Reservoir and a July 16 peak of 70000 cfs at Spring Branch.

SWTSU Freshmen Orientation and Registration Schedule
Freshman and transfer students at Southwest Texas State University begin six orientation and registration sessions with the first on Wednesday July 18. Sessions continue July 25 31 August 2 7 and 9 with 3 000 freshmen expected and total fall enrollment around 12 000. Sessions start 8 a.m. in Evans Auditorium then packet distribution and major specific advising follow. General SWT registration for former students runs August 28 to 30 after a holiday move for Lyndon B. Johnson’s birthday.
