Raleigh nov 7 ap the constitutional amendment to raise pay for NC General Assembly members led by 3105 votes with about half of 1730 precincts reported later tonight. Other amendments and a 2400000 veteran loan bond show growing majorities as rural sections remain unreported.
Mrs. Borethy Neson of Milwaukee is recovering in a Chicago hospital after overdosing in a hotel room in a crisis. Hotel staff found her unconscious with a note declaring she sought a long, long sleep in the land of mystery.
New Orleans reports arrival of the Guayamaca with bodies from the Cuyel Fruit Company's steamship Jamacia. Two men died in the blaze near Binefield Nicaragua two weeks earlier. earlier reports had claimed no injuries.
New York on November 7 reports mixed tones in the cotton market as futures end steady. December trades near 22.95 cents, January around 28.40, May near 28.05, with July futures also noted.
In Johnson County on November 7 the Democratic party suffered a decisive defeat with Republican majorities ranging from 116 to 461. All but Congressman Pou, who led the county by 204, the rest of the Democratic ticket fell short. Unofficial returns from Des Moines show Senator Brookhart Republican ahead of Daniel Steck Democrat in the Iowa Senate race, with county auditors verifying results and awaiting the official canvass next week that could determine the winner.

The front of the truck hides behind the road with a veranda and a rear drive from the kitchen. Lewis says it is home sweet home to him.
Phoenix dispatch reports Governor George W. P. Hunt Democrat leading Dwight Head Republican in early returns. Hunt held an 850 vote margin with further outlying precincts still to report, making Head unlikely to close the gap.
The U S government against Pan American Transport and Edward Doheny rests its case in a fraud and conspiracy suit seeking cancellation of contracts and leases in the Kik Hills Naval Reserve. The government alleges improper acquisition of the agreements.
The condition of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge remained grave but improved as he regained consciousness after 48 hours in a coma at Cambridge. His physician said he had taken nourishment and that consciousness was more sustained since noon.
Former North Carolina Governor and congressman W. W. Kitchin was reported gravely ill at his home tonight after several months of illness. His condition worsened this afternoon and doctors feared he might not survive the night.
