In 1832 Silas Wright and partner David Comstock push from Detroit toward unsettled lands in Michigan. They evade a pistol wielding hunter, then lodge at Smiths Corners tavern where Wright and Comstock are attacked. Williams, later identified as McCarthy, and his brother kill the trader and Indians. Wright survives and aids in posthumous justice, receiving a reward for McCarthy’s death.
