Death of Judge Hugh L Bond in Baltimore

Judge Hugh L Bond a U S Circuit Court judge died in Baltimore last Tuesday morning after failing to recover from a prior bout of laurippe. He had heart failure as the cause. Bond, a New York native, graduated from the University of the City of New York in 1848. He served as Baltimore Criminal Court judge for eight years starting 1860 and was named U S Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit by President Grant in 1870. He oversaw the Ku Klux trials in the Carolinas and ruled on the South Carolina Presidential electoral board case in 1876. At his death he was chief judge of the U S Circuit.
