Charlotte Press Association visit ends with banquet and honors
The 1892 North Carolina Press Association gathering in Charlotte enjoyed full hospitality from local citizens. A banquet at the Central Hotel featured toasts from leaders, messages from Z. B. Vance and M. W. Ransom, and remarks by Gov. Holt and others. An excursion option to Washington and New York was offered, and officers and delegates were announced for the coming year.

Third Party meeting in Court House endorses full ticket push
A Third Party gathering at the Court House elected Dr H F Freeman as Chairman and John Mears as Secretary with about one hundred attendees including forty Black participants. Delegates were chosen for the State Convention in Raleigh on the 16th and primaries planned for the 20th and 27th to shape a county slate. The talk attacked bosses in the Democratic party and urged unity behind reform and a Cleveland White House return.

Business Mens Convention in Wilson Appoints Delegates
A meeting was held in the mayor’s office by Wilson business men to elect delegates for a statewide convention in Morehead on August 10th. E Barnes was chairman and Geo Hackney secretary. A committee of Wilson businessmen was named to represent local interests, with Geo Hackney and others listed as members.
