Butler Addressed Farmers on Politics and the Third Party
Marion Butler spoke to a large crowd arguing against demagoguery while criticizing Republicans and praising Democrats. He urged government ownership of railroads and steamboats, lamenting Southern hardships and urging loyalty to the Democratic banner over the Third Party. The Wilmington Star noted alliance tensions over the St Louis platform and Ocala demands.
