County weighs shared gear and mass alert system
Wilson County commissioners approved an interlocal agreement to share certain equipment with Floresville to cut costs and avoid duplicate purchases. A Thursday briefing on high speed notification systems highlighted its potential to warn residents quickly during storms or floods and to inform about non emergency events. The $52,500 base cost and yearly updates over $4,000 prompted caution, but officials agreed to file a grant letter of interest seeking up to 75 percent funding.
