The O Neill Creek flood swept Leesville and carried away a casket from a newly opened grave in the Leesville Cemetery. Sylvia Howe of Nixon, a nurse who cared for others, was laid to rest in Leesville in 1981 and remembered for her indomitable spirit and devotion to family.
