Texas DPS postcard notices alert neighbors to high risk sex offenders
The Texas Department of Public Safety started a postcard notification program for high risk offenders convicted on or after Jan 1. About 30 offenders and 16 000 mailings sent to neighbors within three blocks or one mile rural areas. The effort follows legislation by Sen Mike Jackson and Reps Ray Allen and Pat Haggerty.
