Floresville Volunteer Wins Texas Home Care Award
Joanne Davenport of Floresville and Karnes City received the Texas Association for Home Care Volunteerism Award on August 22 for her work with Nurses In Touch Community Hospice. She visits terminally ill parolees in a local nursing facility and supports incarcerated patients with weekly visits and small comforts. Davenport has volunteered with Nurses in Touch since 1998.

The Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio seeks volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to share Texas history. Outreach volunteers will visit schools and groups, with roles in the Back 40 area puppet theater and gift shop. English required. bilingual skills in Spanish, German, or French are a plus.
