Wilson County Track Club shines at AAU Junior Olympics
In Norfolk Virginia from July 29 to August 3 six Wilson County track athletes posted personal bests. Lauren Waclawczyk set a national junior record in the 11 year old girls discus with 91 feet 8 inches while finishing second. Other top results included multiple top finishes in shot put high jump and pentathlon and notable marks by Jillian Balser Corey Stone Amanda Waclawczyk and Danessa Lyssy.

The Alamo Area Chapter of Quail Unlimited hosts its annual banquet at Alcazar Shrine Temple in San Antonio on Thursday September 6. Baker competes at AAU National Junior Olympic Games
Natalie Baker, a La Vernia seventh grader, placed 25th in the 200 meters at the 2001 AAU National Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, recording 34.08 seconds and missing the semifinals by 0.08. She previously won three events at the area meet and posted personal bests of 15.54, 33.38, and 118.41 seconds in 100, 200, and 400 meters respectively.
